Assistant ICT Technical Manager

Salary: MK6 - £19,614 - £23,952

 

Hours of work: 37 hours per week

(8.30 - 4.30 Mon-Thurs; 8.30 - 4.00 Fri; ½ hour lunch break)

 

Contract: Full time with 27/31 days’ holiday entitlement (excl. bank holidays) according to service

 

Base Location: Ousedale School - Newport Pagnell Campus

Special Conditions: Although the base location is as shown, the post holder will be required to work on either of the school’s campuses, as needs arise.

 

Job Description

Overview

The postholder will be administering and supporting a wide range of up to date technologies including Web Servers, Windows 2003 servers, network infrastructure (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, Firewalls), Windows XP Desktop and laptop PCs on both sites.

He/she will report to the ICT Technical Manager.

 

Main Responsibilities

• Work closely with the ICT Technical Manager in implementing ICT projects, providing 3rd line support, training junior members of ICT support staff.

 

• Support the maintenance and development of the school’s curriculum and administrative networks, servers, workstations and other data points.

 

• Ensure that the networks are operational during access hours and appropriate back-up protocols are implemented.

 

• Ensure the regular maintenance programme and problem-solving in hardware and software as well as ensuring that appropriate “housekeeping” tasks are implemented.

 

• Setting up security parameters and ensuring up-to-date virus checks are implemented.

 

• Develop and install hardware, software and network solutions throughout the school, to meet curriculum and administrative needs.

 

• Monitor the use of hardware and software and ensure all software is licensed.

 

• Provide help, guidance and training, when needed, to staff and students in the use of ICT.

 

• Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the headteacher.

 

• Support for Schools systems which include, Telephony, Video Conference, VoIP, Cashless Catering System, Oliver Library System.

 

• Support relevant out of school learning activities, e.g. clubs and other activities within school guidelines.

 

• Undertake any other similar duties as required.

Scope

 

• Provide software, hardware and technical support for all members of staff and students; to ensure the computer networks are working well.

That was my first though. Read carefully. Title says manager. Post actually says Assistant

I did notice the assistant manager part, still salary for an assistant manager position still questionable to me. Maybe its just me though..... ;-)

I bet there is a lot of people doing all that and more already and not getting that pay..................!

Exactly, im on less than that and i do all that plus a lot more. Probs be showing this to the head of ICT and just comparing saleries in relationship to what i do... Just out of interest, where in britain is this place?

Well done Norphy... I shall wave as I drive through Newport in the mornings (I go through there every single day, and on the roads between the Olney and Newport sites!)

 

It's not that bad around there actually, I can think of worse schools *whistles* ;-)
