dont you just hate phones tried to go to edugeek on my phone and aparantly its an 18+ rated site and they cant confirm my identity ffs i hate orange lousy internet connection and when it does work im blocked ?!*&

That's infuriating, T-Mobile do the same! Despite turning it off on my online account, and entering my credit card details on my phone, it still blocked me! Ended up having to call them, then you have the embarrassment of asking for adult sites to be allowed through! :doh:

its a works sim card so i cant even do that

I had the same problem with Three.... I phoned them and told them I wanted full access to the net without paying..... after a bit of ranting, hey presto full access and I dont have to pay extra :-)

hmmmm, that may be the issue as everyone who's phone i got it to work on worked on 2.2 or above. Perhaps getting the ROM upgraded by carrier?

 

samsung are releasing froyo sometime late march april i just dont want to mess round applying no official roms sounds like a good way to kill it to me

well if you are worried about bricking the phone then good call to wait!

 

Cant you softmod it? Software to run apps in super user without the worry of killing you phone.

 

EDIT: Ill dig out the softmod software I have used and post later.

It was my understanding that that's exactly what rooting is - allowing super user (root in linux terms) access to the phone by unlocking the root account...
