Rydra Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 On a serious note, quite a few of the older navy ships have been recomissioned in the Australian navy, and I believe a number again with some of the asian countries. I think India picked up a good few of them. But I suspect we'll see it bought by some private entity with too much money, and it will be made to turn cheap tricks.

I think India picked up a good few of them. Despite the fact that we invented the thing (and a lot of other carrier technology we no longer use) the last carrier we had with that facility was HMS Hermes. We sold it to India very soon after it returned from the Falklands in 1982!

Indeed, however the government was also discussing dropping the F35-B and replacing it with the F35-C, which would need the CATOBAR system. So, it all depends on what they decide in the end!
