I too thought about putting something daft like Jedi on my form thinking that it's obvious that I'm not really a Jedi and that I'm an atheist pointing out the stupidity of the question, but then I realised I overlooked one crucial point: that would require the government to employ their common sense. I will be ticking no religion
Rydra Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 There is a difference in Atheism and not following a religion. In fact Atheism in itself can be a religion; a belief in there being NO god. Agnostic is the description for someone who does not necessarily follow a religion, but acknowledges that there is an unknown, which could be explained by a deity, or otherwise. Atheism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Agnosticism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia But also to note, just because you do not attend church each week or similar, does not technically mean you are not religious; Most people with a christian background/parentage will still be christian in all but name, as our society has grown up with it. The same goes for Muslims, Jewish and others. My views on religion are complex at best, but when was religion as a topic of conversation ever simple! The church of the Flying spaghetti Monster, the Jedi and most others are just as valid beliefs as any other, though some more eccentric than others. To put anything but the truth on it is unfair to those who have those beliefs. I will either abstain or put christian, as that is what represents me best; I do not believe in collecting information for the sake of it, and my views on organised religions are my own; but I am nevertheless christian, in fact raised, confirmed and married as a Catholic.
