Dos_Box Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Those wonderful people over at Spiceworks have just dropped me a line to let us know that they have created an iPhone app which is now available for download on the iTunes app store. The app will allow you to see devices, work tickets, access user info etc. http://a2.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/043/Purple/7c/c2/36/mzl.dsyhqbkp.320x480-75.jpg http://a8.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/034/Purple/8d/ca/8a/mzl.gklbuwmx.320x480-75.jpg More info here: Spiceworks for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

reggiep Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 So, do you guys use the spiceworks helpdesk?
Edu-IT Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 So, do you guys use the spiceworks helpdesk? Yes, to my knowledge they both do. Looks a pretty good app although with so many dislikes about the way the helpdesk works, I've decided to move away from it.
john Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Yes, to my knowledge they both do. Looks a pretty good app although with so many dislikes about the way the helpdesk works, I've decided to move away from it. Yup I do have used it for eer about 3 years now in 2 schools very good tool As for moving away Edu-IT, whats wrong with it? Feed it back to Spiceworks if its a problem / issue / annoyance and they will try to fix it as I am sure they would like to know what issues you have with it
reggiep Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Do your staff/users like the reporting a problem side of it? Do they need to log in to report a problem?
dezt Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 I'll take a look at this on Monday on my iPad, not got an iPhone. Been using this for about 3 years now, integrated with AD, so users don't have to log in.
russdev Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Also they have released some info on the next beta version. Spiceworks New IPhone App & New Features Coming Soon
Edu-IT Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Yup I do have used it for eer about 3 years now in 2 schools very good tool As for moving away Edu-IT, whats wrong with it? Feed it back to Spiceworks if its a problem / issue / annoyance and they will try to fix it as I am sure they would like to know what issues you have with it Well, we were primarily using it for the help desk and there were lots of other bells and whistles within Spiceworks that we just didn't use. Plus as they keep adding more and more features which we just don't need, it is becaming bloated in my opinion for what we need and unfriendly to use. I want a simple application that is just a help desk and to me, Spiceworks isn't it. That is not to say that Spiceworks isn't any good because as you all know, it is. Just I feel the helpdesk side of it was not the best and the attention seems to be focused elsewhere now.

Also have you updated your Spiceworks install to the latest version, currently 5.0.62863 Mark
jonnykewell1 Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 it just says login error: server error and yes it is definitely 5.0.62863 Thanks for the quick reply. Jonathan
russdev Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Have you got the latest version on your server otherwise it will not work. Russ
jonnykewell1 Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 yes russ its on the server just downloaded it this morning.
sister_annex Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I am presuming you are logging in with the correct Username and Password? May be worth a reboot of both your phone and Spiceworks install... Shot in the dark... your phone is not being blocked by your firewall, I saw this happen and had to create a rule in our ISA server to allow the phone data through (also had to give the phones a static IP)
jonnykewell1 Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I fixed this issue. Needed to turn off the schools internet proxy in my iphone thanks for the help anyway guys
