Gatt Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Anyone had this update yet? Have heard that Personnel Module is to, finally, be updated to .NET instead of its current 16bit(?) version. Just wondering if any problems with this update as invariably we do end up with problems

steve Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 The personnel module has been available since november. We've been running it since then without any issues. Its much better that the old 16 bit app. I've done a test of the Feb release and it didn't cause us any issues.
Quackers Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 We have the new personal sims, but apparently you cannot write data only read in the new .net version, you still have to use the old version to modify data. This is what the SIMS administrator tells me, but i suspect he is telling porkys. Can anyone confirm, i'm left in the dark a little when it comes to sims at my school.
DMcCoy Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 My .net data is (STILL) with Capita, the database validator is broken. My Personel data is with Capita, it is broken. My assessments don't print. It exports the & from salutations. This is an invalid character when used as text in xml I'm really beginning to hate sims.net. I thought it might be better for a while, but it just gets worse and worse. I hope the fms conversion goes ok :/
PhilNeal Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Personnel.net can be run in read only mode being fed from Personnel 5. Once your support unit is ready it can be switched to read/write.

The oldest case we have is from Jan but that is flagged as very low priority which would not fit with your description. I have asked our unit to contact your authority to try to trcae the case. OK so it can scan in sick notes, hope it is trying to use OCR on Doctor's handwriting, could you imagine the errors ARGH!!!! we are havin out full conversion here in April (done by our local support team) Hopefully it will all go well Gaz

Gatt Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 @Phil - nice to have someone from capita on the board Our support unit is our LA, and as far as i know they plan to update SIMS this week sometime, though the new Personnel.NET module will be a bit delayed as olur bursar needs to go through reams of errors on the current system Just hope the LA do the update properly this time!! (a good start woul dbe to tell me so i can ensure everyone has shut SIMS down.

And remebering back to the upgrade from STAR to SIMS.net i think we need to start now ready for april Gaz
steve Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 how do you identify the errors with the current personnel module Have a look in your network sims folder for the following files: PERS5CON.pdf - Brief Overview CHECKUP.pdf - How to use checkup utility Checkup1.pdf - How to resolve issues CHECKUP.exe - Data check utility Also search SIMS SupportNet, under files and documents, for "check" There maybe newer versions of the manuals and data check utility than those is your SIMS folder.
