Irazmus Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I don't have pics of the current suite, but this is the plan for the new one we'll be putting in before September.
russdev Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 To take this thread off topic @Irazmus - did you do the pictures if so what package did you use...
RoyG Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 RoyG: Aarrgghh - a mac!! Leave it alone - it's nice!! Used for video editing using Final Cut Pro. Do you not have problems with kids messing with the wires on the desk trunking? The trunking is aluminium & need a special tool to get access - so no problem. RoyG
webman Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I mean plugging/unplugging them and/or sticking paperclips into the holes?
RoyG Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I mean plugging/unplugging them and/or sticking paperclips into the holes? There's nothing to unplug, the keyboard, monitor & mouse leads pass through the face-plate and are secured under the bench. There are sockets for USB, audio & midi. We've had no problems with them in 4 years, apart from the odd loose USB socket. RoyG
Irazmus Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 To take this thread off topic @Irazmus - did you do the pictures if so what package did you use... Images were made using Google SketchUp and only took an evening. I've also got one of the new ICT office and server room, makes things so much easier when explaining the plan to the builders ^^
russdev Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Been meaning to look at sketchup so good as time as any... Russ
goodhead Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 This is going to be the layout of our new ICT Suite which I am really looking forward to: http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/7159/layoutdn5.jpg Here are some artist impressions of what the front of the room will look like. Bear in mind it is a primary school. http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/9316/artist1oi6.jpg http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/4541/artist2gl4.jpg i feel sorry for the poor bloke that has to cut them benches out of work top. we just use straight work top like you use in a kitchin. The beching is arranged like an E in one suite and in the other the pcs go right around the edge of the room.
Gatt Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Here are 2 of my Suites - will put the others up once ive done the layouts
beeswax Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 i feel sorry for the poor bloke that has to cut them benches out of work top. I visited a school (St. Anthony's RC College in Urmston) where the IT suites have tables almost that shape, though the curves are a little more gentle. That's how the tables were designed. I can't tell you how much they cost though.
kxv2020 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Sorry to bring the post off-topic again, but how did you get a liecense - did you get a free educators one; if so who was the reseller? Cheers To take this thread off topic @Irazmus - did you do the pictures if so what package did you use... Images were made using Google SketchUp and only took an evening. Irazmus Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 I just used the free version We recommend that most folks in K-12 education try out Google SketchUp (free)--there's no licensing to worry about, and students can download and install it on their computers at home
Gatt Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Ok these are the 4 Main ICT Suites here at Moorside Room 09 Room 11 Room 12 Room 13

beeswax Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 While I was on the Becta site earlier came across this, it may prove useful.
maniac Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 Becta also used to have a page with suggested ICT suite layouts, and the pros and cons of each, but I be damned if I can find it now!!
budgester Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 @webman I really like your schools website, been having a good browse! Was that in-house or commissioned from somewhere? I'm so deeply disappointed with ours, it was comissioned before I started although we've still not got it live yet, we've no motivation as we all dislike it, and adding and editing content on it is so awkward! Ours just looks so amaterish compared to most. Mike. View source is a wonderful thing. o Content Management System is Website Baker o The template is a modified "andreas02" o Web server is Apache2/Linux running on Dual-PIII at the school o Please direct comments/feedback etc. to *** o Most of the site should validate against the W3C for XHTML and CSS
cookie_monster Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Hi all I'm currently looking into new room layouts and was browsing this thread for ideas but quite a few of the links to images are dead, any change the posters that's were generous enough to provide images could resurrect the images Cheers.
