bondbill2k2 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Does anyone else here drink Monster? The drink in a rather distinct black and green can (or one of the other flavours) I love the taste especially now they do a sugar free diet one in a blue can. Im rather annoyed tho my local tesco, the one near work and petrol station I normly fill up at on route to work no longer seem to have the blue diet monster! Might bulk buy some online
LosOjos Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I'm addicted to energy drinks, not keen on Monster though, or Relentless for that matter (apart from the sugar free ones). Have you tried Rockstar Punched or Rockstar Juiced? Very tasty, don't taste as sweet and sickly as other energy drinks
bondbill2k2 Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 Don;t like rockstar, tryed it a few years ago at Santa Pods Bug Jam VW show, they were sponsering the event and had some women giving out free rockstar drinks, monster is a proper different taste and realy nice. No fear is sold in a few places near my work but ive never seen it elsewhere, with a sealing can lid! £1
gmj Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Monster is great stuff ....drink it all the time at work. Bit of a downside that from a distance they look like lager/cider cans though....had a few funny looks from staff members seeing me swigging from a can at my desk.

One of our SLT's jaw literally dropped one morning when he saw me walking in swigging a can of Rockstar, and I never put him straight either
Admiral208 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 my girlfriends brother works for coca cola (who make monster and relentless) so I get loads of freebies. but keep that on the D L.

bondbill2k2 Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 Ive had a funny look when I drank some while driving from a copper lol but the cans are very distinct patterns and colours so its not too bad. Coca cola are doing coke zero in 500ml cans now Ive seen! Didn't think coca cola made monster, knew they made relentless tho.
Fatmas Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I have a good story about Relentless from when I worked in the IT Shop at Cardiff Uni: The union bar took delivery of a crate of Relentless. When they got it down to the cellar they realised one of the cans had split but decided to leave it. The next day the contents of that can had eaten through three other cans causing them to explode. Apparently the inside of the cans are coated but the outside isn't. Yum.
Hawkeyez Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Tend to only drink if its in the same glass as a triple of Jager...... ;-)

SYNACK Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 This sounds abit OTT I dont see anything that could be near that corrosive going into a publically avaliable drink You do know that you can use coke to clean engine parts right, that stuff is plenty corrosive and it is lightweight compared to energy drinks.
RabbieBurns Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Ill have a can of V if im really struggling, apart from that avoid them like the plague.. dont really drink fizzy drinks much at all to be honest of any sort, except Irn Bru of course!!
RobFrain Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I've got a craving for Mountain Dew! Lovely stuff - just very hard to find!!!
pscott Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Tesco stock the EU version, but we have a nice American sweet shop in town that stocks the proper corn syrup stuff, lovely!!!

localzuk Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Wouldn't touch any of this stuff with a barge pole! It just all sounds and looks so unhealthy!
Norphy Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 They had a mountain dew rep in here a little while ago, he set up a stall outside our canteen and was giving away samples. I tried it, the size of the sample was about half a glass. It tasted of sugar and very little else and about half an hour afterwards I had a gonging headache. Can't believe that anyone would drink that muck voluntarily!
bondbill2k2 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 I've got a craving for Mountain Dew! Lovely stuff - just very hard to find!!! Tesco sell it in their stores and most petrol stations ive noticed do, sainsburys also sell it
speckytecky Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I don't touch anything containing synthetic sweeteners - despite the claims by the food industry there is just too much anecdotal evidence (this for example) stacked against some of them for there not to be at least a cause for concern.
maniac Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 If it's going to be an energy drink, it's always Monster Khaos - that stuff is too nice. Only every now and then thou. Friend of mine practically got addicted to Rockstar and used to regularly drink 5 or 6 cans a day. He suffered as a result thou as he's now hyper sensitive to caffine and can't drink anything containing caffine now or he gets very ill, he's only 19 as well so beware energy drinks really can mess you up if you're not careful.
