VOIP Provider for home use - recommendations/experiences?

Recommended Posts

Since Google appear unlikely to bring Voice to .uk/.eu anytime soon, I'm in the market for a VOIP provider with one number/call hunt functionality. A couple of threads on here have mentioned Sipgate and I already know about Vonage.

Is there anyone else worth considering and what have experiences with using Sipgate/Vonage/other provider been like?

Hi

I am trying to find some other cheaper service as well but I think no other provider is available in UK at the moment. Might be somebody know?

I use sipgate

TBH I don't use it much I set an account up with number and that's about it.

Vonage have very good service when it works, but the hardware they supply has had a fatal firmware flaw for over a year that can cause severe performance issues unless you reboot the VOIP gateway every few days. There appears to be no effort being made to fix it as it only affects a small proportion of customers, but unless you use different hardware I just can't recommend it. Real shame because otherwise their offering is very good.

Soho66.co.uk are very good, specifically for the smaller business and home user.

The UK support is great as well.

Highly recommended, check out the Fax to email service as well.
