p858snake Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 My mum has a copy of this and it has a floppy disk to install the application and then the content cd as well. Well her new computer (laptop) doesn't have a floppy drive and vague memories of trying suggest it won't install without being A:, has anyone attempted this and got it working? or will i need to source a external disk drive?
andy_b Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I'm fairly certain you can just copy the files off the floppy disk. Otherwise make an image of the floppy and use Virtual Floppy Drive | Download Virtual Floppy Drive software for free at SourceForge.net to create a virtual drive on the laptop.
tumbleweed Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Try the windows built-in command SUBST - assign drive letter to a directory.
pavlovs_dog Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I always use a USB pen drive, works fine (done over 90 installs).
Admiral208 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 As above, I just copied the files to a network share and worked.
p858snake Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Thanks, I did the USB last night and it worked (I'm sure I tried once before and it wouldn't work). But I did notice that I ticked the option to install the resources onto the computer but it still needs the resource cd to be inserted? (might be because it's running on seven?)
neilmunn Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Just install it using a USB floppy drive.
