Dell Dimension 4600i reset post fan failure

I'm currently cleaning a Dell Dimension 4600i post a trojan attack and case fan failure. On boot up I'm getting a message:

 

Alert, previous fan failure Press F1 to continue, F2 to run setup. Having read the Dell help I see it talks of Entering the setup and once there pressing Alt + f to restore the factory settings. Followed by changing Secondary Drive from 0 to Auto - it is not an option in the BIOS screen I have. Change USB legacy to Enable - again not an option on my machine. Then press Alt + B. Doing this does run a reset and boot.

 

But still the F1, F2 message comes up at boot. Grr!

 

Anyone come across this before and found a solution please?

Found a workaround - entering BIOS setup and setting disable keyboard failure reporting seems to have worked. Brief message saying previous fan failure does pop up on start but at least the machine doesn't hang any more waiting for F1 or F2 to be pressed.

 

Apparently this is a problem with some Dell machines. I did read of a fuller solution but that involved cutting wires and joining in a 40ohm resistor!
