contink Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Yes, I'm suffering from a nasty cold and cough, complete with broken glass like throat but there are a few things I feel necessary to point out, to avoid the usual "Oh, it's man flu" commentary from the "Immune systems on steroids" female folk that loiter waiting for the opportunity (Don't say you don't!) I've been the one getting up ALL week at O'dark thirty to look after a teething boy while my wife gets more sleep. I've already had tonsillitis and didn't complain about that Just because of one chromosomal difference I should not immediately classed as a "wimp" You may now all wish me well in getting better and make offers of shopping runs, whisky laced* hot toddies or back rubs** *wondering how many of people misread that as lacy and have their mind go off on a completely unwarranted tangent.. **subject to status, gender, cuteness! (Sorry John, that's you out )
bodminman Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Still sounds like Man Flu to me mate! All you needd is 2 weeks off and a nice lass fanning you down whilst you rest on the sofa watching Lord of the Rings or a similar epic!
contink Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 All you needd is 2 weeks off and a nice lass fanning you down whilst you rest on the sofa watching Lord of the Rings or a similar epic! You obviously don't have children or missed the bit about my son... Getting an hour on sofa to watch anything other than "In the Night Garden" is a luxury in itself, let alone some fanning lass or enough time to watch a whole film!! *cue: four Yorkshiremen sketch a la' Monty Python*

The comment was to be take tongue in cheek but abviously you're not in the mood for that so apologies!

Of course, being ill, I reserve the right to be cranky, unreasonable, etc... Although in fairness I'm just fed up of coughing...
mattx Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Welcome to the wonderful world of family life. Oh and btw - it will get worse.

witch Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Ahem: 'fed up WITH' not fed up OF' (I'm working on the basis that the more annoyed you get, the less you will notice your symptoms!!)
contink Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 (I'm working on the basis that the more annoyed you get, the less you will notice your symptoms!!) How "kind"!
bodminman Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Ahem: 'fed up WITH' not fed up OF' (I'm working on the basis that the more annoyed you get, the less you will notice your symptoms!!) Leave him alone, he's ill! LOL
rad Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Ha ha, I am suprised we haven't had the MAN UP yet...
X-13 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Ha ha, I am suprised we haven't had the MAN UP yet... I was tempted to post a Mr.T image with the "You ain't hurt, yo pathetic!, Argh! If I ever catch you acting like a crazy fool again, you're gonna meet my friend pain!" from the snickers advert. But then I though people wouldn't get it...
chrbb Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Here we go with the 'Man up' and stop being such a girl! There's that's going to upset everyone and completely take your mind off being ill. PS I had tonsilitus over Xmas and was pathetically ill - so virtual sympathies enroute!
contink Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Slap em down and then build them up.. Hmm... a refreshing approach if nothing else...
chrbb Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 That's hormones for you! I have little or no control over what I'm saying or thinking - and I love it!
contink Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 That's hormones for you! I have little or no control over what I'm saying or thinking - and I love it! Is there a site you lot go to that gives you these excuses? I ask because I'm sure my wife used that exact wording just recently...
CAM Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 The trick is to pass it to your office staff so one of them have to take a day off when you come back. Not heard any man flu claims yet from last week.
tech_guy Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 It's man flu. Do what I do - gargle with Mr. Daniels and get on with it.
witch Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Pah! Hormones be damned! I know EXACTLY what I am saying and I love it!!
