farquea Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 incidentally we might actually be losing a technician this week with redunduncies that are being made here
Fatmas Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 £8000 could be well spent ensuring your core servers are up to date. Do you have appropriate UPS systems in place? Also, +1 for managed wireless.
DSapseid Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Some new Casio Lampless Projectors? I recently had the same thing £8k to spend, i spent it on new desktops, laptops, netbooks and some led projectors. Also did a massive ink order that should last me till easter.
farquea Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 we have managed wireless and decent ups system in place. we also have decent servers but i want to look at virtualisation. with regard to projectors i was just going to stock up on a few more bulbs for the projectors we have as they are fairly modern and maybe buy in 1 new projector as a spare. toners is a good one though, anything left i'll put to those, provided i can find a big storage room to put them in!
Danny_S4ICT Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Have you thought about anything SMART wise? SMART response systems are something good for the classroom to interact the children more and get everyone involved? How up to date is the school for ICT, there are always things in the market making it more exciting and enjoyable for the Children!
mthomas08 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Tough one this. Is there any laptops, computers, servers that could do with replacing? Get some GB networking in? Personally I wouldnt bother with Wireless. If I had that 8k right now, I would go ahead and look in to SAN or get two good servers or 1 awesome one for a virtual server, or put it towards our FROG purchase.
Ric_ Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 The sensible thing to do is purchase the hardware you have planned to buy for next financial year, thus freeing up money for any problems you may encounter.
Max_Power Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 managed wireless - or a breakout research area with some PCs and tablets?
jamesfed Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Full on server upgrade - G7 HP blades all the way with a nice San attached (maybe even blade storage). You can get cashback on trade ins at the moment as well.
