Uraken Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 has anyone else tested this yet its not bad at all for those that use log me in.
ITWombat Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 has anyone else tested this yet its not bad at all for those that use log me in. Be careful. This looks a lot like phising. There is no mention of any product called Ignition on the official LogMeIn web site. This is surprising as they are not the kind of company that shuns publicity. If you receive an email purporting to be from LogMeIn which is inviting you as a 'valued customer' to participate in a closed beta then contact LogMeIn support and verify it separately. Don't reply to the mail or click on any links. Don't put your network at risk. The bad guys want your passwords. Think I am paranoid? Just read this.
SimpleSi Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 @itwombat Maybe your preaching to the choir but your still right. I never click on any link in an email - I always type in a url myself. Sometimes, this means missing out on a beta program (I couldn't access the Live Hotmail beta unless I clicked on the link they sent me) but its a minor inconvienece compared to downside. Remember - you can't get pregnant if you don't have sex regards Simon
russdev Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Here is the link https://secure.logmein.com/products/ignition/ignition_beta.asp As can see not phishing... Russell

SimpleSi Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 @russ Ta for link (unless your not who you say you are ) Doesn't work for me - everything installs but I get an error when trying to connect - normal connection via Firefox works fine. I'm on Win2000 so maybe thats the problem - I've emailed them. regards Simon

Russell Ah, is that a wet haddock you have there Mr. Dyas  NumptyPoints+=1; Strange that they kept it so quiet. Did anyone here get an invite?
Sylv3r Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I installed it yesterday, looks good and much quicker then having to manually login everytime via the website.
sidewinder Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Can I ask a general question about LogMeIn What port(s) does it use? Can it go over HTTP? It doesnt seem to go into much detail on the website. I only ask because I cant install any proper remote access product at school because we have no external IP address, nothing. We're waiting for the LEA to implement their solution but not heard a thing for ages. I just want to be able to connect to my PC at my desk from home
Uraken Posted February 19, 2007 Author Posted February 19, 2007 i think its 1030 but it will work in your environment (assuming you have net access that is)try the free version first.

sidewinder Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Well just found that to be a no-goer due to the fact the LEA has blocked the logmein domain name I thought I had got round it by registering etc from a proxy site at school and downloading the client at home and bringing it in. But of course the client needs to access the logmein servers and just gets an 'unknown error' because it cant get there I really, really wish we had our own net connection sometimes :x
