Hi all

Head asking to supply netbooks for curriculum in classrooms and can only find ones with XP home, obviously I will be unable to join to domain but wanted to know if anyone else is running these in schools with this OS and how they have configured so that pupils can log into there own home directory and shares on the server plus printers etc, is there any limitations, we already have 60 laptops on domain but head wants these smaller units.

We buy licenses with ours to allow us to use XP pro on them, although you can't get these any more to my knowledge. If you have a schools agreement for your licensing thou, you should be covered to use windows XP Pro on them if you wanted to.

I script our 160+, it works OK. They type in username and it maps h drive, maps to my docs and other mapping that are needed. Filtering is on IP through our WS100 - it's not bad really, the main issues we get are people turning our WiFi off... normally teachers to plug in heaters!

We have Remote Desktop Services (R2) and all the notebooks are Win7 Starter that have a shortcut to our remote dekstop server on them, with access only to the Guest account so nothing is saved once the user logs off.
