Where is the iPad Forum??

Well as a College rolling out 380 of these devices, I am wondering where the iPad forum is?

 

It would be great to discuss this topic with other users.

Yes. I see your point. However, As a College who is deploying these devices out to all students in years 9 - 12 (Australia), I imagine you will start to see this become a much larger issue than you first thought.

 

I know other Colleges in Australia that are following suit as well.

I would think that is why it is being renamed, plus i am sure if ZH is asked nicley he will add some tags for us under that forum so we can tag it is an iPad/iPhone/HTC etc.

Lots of schools have classroom voting systems, smartboards (specific brand), or use specific software - apache2, papercut, etc... I think a forum which covers tablets/pdas/phones is the best route, as we'd end up with hundreds of forums if we have specific ones.

For that amount of iPads you may want to consider the iPhone Configuration Utility? Assuming you have not already done so? It's freely available from Apple and is designed to deploy and manage hundreds or thousands of iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. You can install it on either platform.

I agree that these portable devices should be discussed in their own Forum, and I also agree that there's no need for each brand to have it's own. The jury is still out about what the future of these devices will be. Apple have set out their stall, and very delightful it is too. However, there are lots of choices available and it's useful to be able to compare experiences in one forum. For the record, I think Apple have hit on a really good strategy with the iPad, and I think it will win in the long run. They've still got some work to do, for sure, but it's a blinding start
