hey guys got a problem with in my school we have just got cs5 and photoshop keeps crashing the desktop that it is on is a xp 32bit with 4 gig ram but xpo sees only 2 gig in side it has a dual core prosser we dont have much knolige in the line of adobe as this is a new thing us tecs have roled out. i9f any of you could help that would be grate my email is [email protected]

I think you have two separate issues there. In the BIOS, you may need to enable PAE so Windows sees 4GB of memory. I presume the BIOS itself does see 4GB?

 

As for Photoshop, CS5 is still very new so it might be a good idea to contact Adobe themselves. Other than this, you could try looking through the event logs for clues as to why it's crashing. Presumably other applications are OK?

hi thanks for your reply theres no problem with the computer just the cs5 mate i know windows xp will only see 2 gig as its only 32 bit and the photoshop is just a joke now as i got kids needing to do controled assesments and they cant

Personally if I was running Photoshop CS5, I would probably run it on either XP 64Bit or Win 7 64Bit as the available memory available would speed things up quite a bit.

 

I suppose as an alternative you could explore Adobe downgrade rights (if it exists) and run CS4 which should have most of the bugs ironed out.
