Hi there,

is there an idiots guide to setting up WDS with an emphasis on creating and ditributing XP images?

I've followed a guide but feel something has gone amiss as I get to the point of network booting an XP machine with the intention of running wdscapture.exe at a command promt but wdscapture.exe doesn't exist!

Cheers

if you use a windows 7 dvd to create the deploy / capture images it gives a nice frontend so you dont need to remember silly command lines ive found just boot off teh win7 capture image fill in domain credentials and tell it which group yopu want the image placed in and it does it all for you without having to resort to the command line

I've got a WinPE image available for use in WDS for this stuff. It boots up straight to a command prompt and I use imagex for capturing the WIM. Once I have the WIM on a network drive I import it into WDS.

+1 to that, it got me set up with WDS.

The only problems I encountered were injecting network card drivers but I've mastered that now.

definetly something that needs "mastering"
