stevenlong1985 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Hi Everyone! I'm currently using NTBackup on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise. Backing up each night around 150gb of data, to a 6TB NAS (Buffalo TeraStation Pro) I don't really enjoy using NTBackup as I can't find the fix to the problem. In the logs I keep getting an error message saying: "Error: An inconsistency was encountered in the requested backup file." I dont know where the inconsistency is. or a solution to fix it. I would like to get a new Backup software, just to see if it is just the NTbackup is acting up, though our school is out of money. So looking at alternative free software, and found this f-backup Free backup software - Backup files with FBackup any recommendation? Thanks
mbird Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Have you had a look at Microsoft's DPM ? Cost us £30 on the schools agreement, and is pretty good actually! 1
chazzy2501 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 You could use robocopy a scheduled task and script! (free) 1
plexer Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 The inconsistency I would presume is between when it starts to the backup and when the verify finishes in the fact that some files have changed, i.e something that is in use and has been backed up using shadow copies. Ben 1
