Side note - if the web interface takes ages to display the about screen ("i" button, displays the version at the top), it's probably because it needs a proxy setting. This also enables kernel downloads, the kernel update screen is blank otherwise.

I don't think your network card is supported by the kernel so there is no connectivity after once the TFTP transfer has finished. Do you know which chipset these netbooks use?

It also looks like you are using an old version of FOG as the latest ones have an option on the PXE menu called 'Client Information' where you can run a test to check it is okay with the disk controller and network adapter. The next version of FOG is apparently out today / tomorrow so it might be worth running the upgrade. If you don't want to upgrade the entire system then try using an alternate kernel (try one with KS in the name as they support a broader range of hardware), or get the kernel from the latest version of FOG and just drop that in.

It shows the filename when it downloads it, so the default one is just called bzImage.

It might be worth you getting some kernels that have KS in the filename, these are 'kitchen sink' kernels that are built to contain pretty much everything going.

 

You could either rename bzImage to something else and then rename a KS kernel to bzImage, or set the host at the kernel level. If you do the latter you'll see the filename displayed as the kernel is downloaded (when the dots are running across the screen).

 

Yes I did fix this problem!

 

I downloaded a different (newer) kernel and used that, worked a charm. Don't remember it being a kitchensink version.

Thanks for your help, this did that magic. 18 out of 32 netbooks have been imaged! I love FOG
