Serial number is there, you go to the downloads window and click the Game Title, should drop down a bit and show you the serial key.

It's a rubbish game anyway! If you want top play a decent RTS - go for warcraft 3, the custom games on battle.net are amezzin...

Yes, it says serial not assigned

 

CD keys have temporarily ran out, you can still buy it and download it, you will have to wait a week or two to be assigned a key.

For anyone who didn't get a key for AOE, they didn't put enough keys on the system. They should now be available.

 

 

AGE OF EMPIRES SALES INFORMATION:

 

During the Age of Empires III sale, we temporarily ran out of game keys. New keys have now been added to the system and if you purchased the game during the sales period, your account will be assigned a key the next time you go to 'View Game Keys' on the 'Downloads' tab of the Games for Windows Marketplace Client.

 

You will need to have the Games for Windows Marketplace client installed.

 

The Age of Empires III Daily Deal sale ran from 2:00 AM Pacific Time - 10:PM PT on 11/21/2010.

I picked this up but it insists on me using the Games for Windows client which refuses to work on Ubuntu.

It is a Windows game, so I'd expect that... Many 'downloadable' games require some form of client to be installed. Eg EA has their own system.
