to be honest, absolute disgrace him being fined for dangerous driving.

 

"No doubt you were severely irritated but you can't go taking the law into your own hands." - But don't rely on the police, as they won't be taking the law into their own hands either.....unless it is erecting a speed camera on the road.

The fact that the CCTV footage shows a car stop on the zig zag lines and wait for a child, causing the traffic in front of it to have to wait shows what inconsiderate drivers there are around there.

 

I'm pretty sure if someone parked in front of any of our driveways/garages or whatever we would just sit there politely for 3 hours until they came back to politely ask them to remove their car. Or I bet if you called the police you would either be charged with wasting police time, or be told it's not a police matter.

 

As for the comment on there from someone saying

"I'm glad he was punished. Annoying yes, but you can't just go backing into cars however you see fit. After the first time maybe he should have considered parking outside the garage during the day, rather than doing it yet again."

Surely that is like saying "oh your house was burgled? well maybe next time you wont buy a TV or have a collection of CDs and it won't happen again" Why should he park outside HIS garage just to stop idiots from doing the same.

I bet it was one of those really dormant thick chav mums - the sort who whilst driving in the morning rush-hour, are texting as they're taking their kids to school and then when they get there they park on the zig-zags to drop them off...

Does someone one to email [email protected] (presumably the reporter) and let him know - I'm sure they'd like the follow up story.

 

I'd have been livid if someone had blocked my garage like that!

 

You would be better contacting the Bristol Evening Post, where it was reported yesterday and swiped by the nationals today.

not quite a garage, but I came home one night and found a tit in a TT parked in my allocated, numbered parking spot in a communal carpark. Big park, 1 corner had 8 allocated spots for 8 flats, and a BIG "Private parking for residents of Yorke House" sign.

 

Not the first time it happened, but I was tired and quite miffed.

 

So I parked the Astra sideways behind him blocking him in, took my blow-up flashing traffic cone out of the boot, inflated it and put it on my roof with a cardboard sign saying "TIT" and an arrow pointing to the TT, put a note under his wiper saying "Never heard of PRIVATE parking? Call Flat 6 to move your car" and went in for a cuppa.

 

My neighbours thought it was hysterical as it happened to them as well.

 

About an hour later, one knocked and said "He's just left.". He'd replied to my note, and manouvered his car out forward, through the undergrowth and rubble and left a few bits of it behind in the process. Never saw the TT again.

 

I was chatting to some local Vauxhall enthusiasts on the net, and one had offered to pop over if it hadn't gone in an hour, and drag it off with a rangerover. The river was just past the end of the carpark...it was very tempting indeed.

 

I put it on either mine or the missus' site, and hey presto, it was all over TT/Audi forums, and we got flamed..hehe.

I'd have done the same as the old chap too. When we lived at mums, we came home one day and found a car in her driveway - some cheeky git who didn't want to pay the parking fee at the point to point races up the road. Locked the gate, parked my spare car behind it. He wasn't impressed. Our property, finders keepers. He paid to get it back.

Lol yes I saw that too. What an idiot. So, he mistakenly parked his car in a private parking space? Yeah, right.

I'd have framed that note SirBendy, I'd take pride in his assessment :D A landy guy I know had a similar problem, he lives in the end property of a close so people either park on the road outside as if it were a dead end blocking his drive or park on his drive as if it were communal parking. He has told all his neighbours that he doesn't mind if they have visitors over asking him and they can park up there if they ask but not to assume as he has people over and has to shunt his vehicles around sometimes. Still happened so one time he wrapped a rope around the bumper of a 110 and just pushed the car out of the way into the street, so people could get passed but it was clear it had been abandoned. Another time when someone parked in has drive area he just moved his cars around so it was completely blocked in and went and visited a friend for the weekend. Police and everything was involved in that one but they found it hilarious as it was all on private land.

 

Have heard a lot of landy owners doing the rope around the bumper trick though, into low diff and slowly push it along :D

I back the pensioner too. There are far too many selfish people around nowadays, and sadly a lot of them have cars. My commute to and from work is like driving in the Wild West at times. People just don;t give a damn about anyone but themselves.

 

Don't get me started on parking on streets with Terraced housing!

My pet hate with parking is in most flats with allocated parking they only allocate one space per flat (apparently thats all they are allowed to allocate for environmental reasons) whereas most of the people living in flats like this are young couples etc. or flatmates with a car each so you end up with a bloody nightmare and you can kiss goodbye to one of the visitor spaces ever being used by an actual visitor.

I was under the impression that you could "use reasonable force" to move a car blocking your exit onto the public highway. However, it may be the other way around, and I'm fairly sure it is one or the other and not both. It was years ago I learned this one, and it may have changed, IANAL etc.

About the same time as above, I was working in a surveyor's office, dealing with planning issues. We had to include 1 1/2 spaces per dwelling, or we didn't get planning consent! Edited by Andrew_C
