What a show, what a week, what a totally wonderful experience meting many of you all for the first time. I am going to list (in some sort of order) the people who need a massive pat on the back for the time, effort and financial contribution they made to get us at BETT and man the stand. Here we go.

 

Tony Sheppard (Grumbledook) - for being our leading light and an utterly amazing guy. He (with Russ and Ric) got our sponsors, props, kit and other essentials organised, transported and set up. If it wasn't for him there would be no EduGeek at BETT. If you ever meet him please scatter rose petals across his path to make his journey easier. He deserves it.

 

Russel Dyas (Russdev) - Sadly Russ couldn't make BETT due to awaiting a baby arriving at any moment, but he was hugely responsible for fund raising and other background activities too numerous to mention. As Tony said one evening. If Russ, Tony, Ric and I were ever to be in the same room at the same time the universe would cease to exist. The universe is safe for at least 5 months yet I think.

 

Rick Charlton (Ric) - For being tall, geeky and placing himself in the firing line for a week solid. He helped to set up the stand, worry with Tony, get some sponsors and be pleasant to our visitors and trying to force RMs' food on me for a couple of days.

 

Art Lader - For those of you who don't know the story yet, on Thursday morning a security guard came to the stand escorting a very cheerful looking gentleman (more on Art here http://www.digitaldivide.net/profile/artlader).

Once confirming we were indeed EduGeek, Art (in his amazingly cheerful manner) declared himself to be our 'Moodle evangelist'. We of course looked a little blank at this, so we phoned Tony who was off the stand at that moment if he had asked for a Moodle expert, and he said that he had asked on a couple of Moodle forums. It then transpires that Art had been funded by Sun Systems (thank you very, very much) to fly from the states, stay in a hotel next to Hyde Park and be our Moodle expert for a few days, and all on the back of a few forum requests by Tony. Thanks Art, you are a wonderful person and we are forever grateful of your presence on the stand.

 

A J Britton (ajbritton) - for wearing a suite when I looked like Meat Loaf and donating your time for the greater good.

 

Alex (Irazmus) - for not being questioned enough about web stuff.

 

Jo (linuxgirlie) - It was great to get our female members involved and in the public eye. Thanks.

 

Our sponsors and their staff who helped man the stand for a few days. You made it all happen and helped us immensely. See you next year.

 

You (allofyou) - Who visited, said hello, donated money or otherwise provided support or help. We love you and would like (at some unspecified point in the future) to have your babies.

 

If I have missed anyone off I apologise immensely and if you PM me I shall get you entered on this post ASAP.

 

Thank you everyone, EduGeek is heading for very, very great things and its all down to you.You should all be very proud of yourselves.

So BETT 2008 here we come :)

 

A big thanks to all that helped as said couldn't get down (I did try honest) but yes big thanks to everyone...

All I can say is well done to all that were there I am sure it will pay off in spade loads of new members and helpers to the forums. Im just sorry I didn't make it down :( Never mind, next year will be a charm.

May I just say thanks on behalf of all of us at SmoothWall for making BETT a more interesting show :) The number of people I spoke to who already knew edugeek was amazing, and those that didn't... well, they know NOW!

 

I regret not having enough time to make it more of a social occasion, i'd have liked to buy you guys a beer at some point - next year, I hope!

 

Still recovering from doing saturday with just myself and Rich Moore - it nearly killed us!

We will try to get a definitive list of supporters up on the site ASAP... the list is huge and many people have been more than generous. It's also worth mentioning Mandy and Sacha from EuroLaser who helped attract people to the stand in their own little way ;)

 

@Tom: Leeds isn't that far away if you just want to pop over and ply us with beer ;)

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed doing my little bit helping out on the stand. It was fun to mix with the ubergeeks for a while and positively inspirational to meet Art Lader.

 

BIG thanks to those who came by just to say 'hi' and 'great site' etc.

 

Here's hoping EduGeek at BeTT 2008 will be bigger and better.

I have visions of Women and The Sun Page 3 for some reason 8O , maybe its my poor humor of the weekend but that just doesn't fit with Edugeek. Oh yeah and you will be getting Jake excited agen :D

I didn't, but by that I am guessing I am fairly correct with that guess by what Ric posted?

I would like to say thanks for letting me on the stand!! It was fantastic meeting everyone, and Art was 'teh best' in ut04 speak, always happy, friendly and pushed moodle in a positive way!!

@Ric - where are you based - next time we're over in Lancs we'll pop in, Rich and myself tend to get around the country a bit!

 

If any of you lot want to (or can spare the time to) come down to Infosec (same venue) in April, I can sort tickets etc. - only really of interest to the most hardened security geeks among you...!!!

Should be there as we podcast from it last year as help desk show was next door as well hope if can get money to do extended reporting/podcast from it this year.

It was great to put some faces to the names and my thanks to Ric for pointing me the direction of the DLink stand. I still think I had the best look at the show - pure Goth :)
