Glad you got it working :)

Re: chargeback - OK, I see! I think I might have misunderstood the way it should have worked, or just forgot when I came round to doing it. I think I can easily add the option to printers though. Then, the chargeback option will be available for both printers and consumables - the choice will be yours. I will make this clear on the reports page by moving the icon next to the printer or consumable - depending on which one it is.

Would that work for you?

@webman That would be perfect.

Is there a way to get it to display the toner stocks by colour but not individual cartridge types? EG. We have stocks of toner for our printers which are of various brands but for the same printer model. We might have 2 compatible Black, 1 original and 1 remanufactured. If we run out of remanufactured, it will display as critical on the front page, but we haven't actually ran out for that model/colour?

Also, is there a way to add tracking of page counts when clicking the 'Install' button?

Hi, finding this very usefull and the updates sound good, I followed all the instructions and have tried the hints on here but to no use, when i run the upgrade.php it only shows 3 patches which it skips. I get no errors and no changes. Thanks

Hi guys,

I have just updated to the latest version of Printmaster, but I am getting this on the add new printer page.

PrintmasterError.jpg

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Hello and Thanks for what I believe will be a very useful tool for our Toner Stock levels etc, very pleased with what I have "played about" with.

One thing I would ask is how could I change the critical/low stock level for individual models or show a minimum stock level when I have varying qty of different printers, say I have 50 x Brother5150 and 2 x HP2600N then I would not want it to report that I have only 2 for the 5150's whereas it would be OK for the 2600N.

Sorry if its been documented somewhere else but I have viewed all posts.

Many Thanks

Steve

Thanks for the speedy response, I know your limited by time but have you any idea of when you would expect this to happen roughly?

Thanks

If anyone needs a simple MS database, I have just finished creating one. It does a simple stock deduction after each toner swap, and you can keep and report on the previous replacements. You can add to it, its just a start! If anyone adds anything useful let me know!

@webman - very nice, thank you so much. Installation was easy (although I needed @ticker's edit re: URL_ROOT). Very cool, although I'm glad I have someone else to do that actual data entry :)

You're welcome timo! Great to see you have mastered the art of delegation there with the data entry ;)

What's the most time-consuming part, is it just having to add all the printers and you have so many of them? Or is it the manufacturers, models and consumables?

Truthfully, it wasn't that big a job - 3 hours maybe. We have just over 40 printers, and I think the data entry is pretty evenly split between consumables, models and printers. We already had everything in spreadsheets, so it really was just data entry.

We're hoping for some of the enhancements that have been mentioned - more flexible alert thresholds, some way of accounting for stock levels of different manuf. variations on a consumable - but those would just be icing. The application as it is now will be very helpful.

Thanks for that timo :)

I'm always open to feedback and looking at new ways to make it even easier to use, so all comments are read and considered.

@webman Hi there any chance of another feature request?

It would be really useful if the reports page could show a report of when stock was added to the system as well as when it was installed into a printer...

Cheers,

Jon

Hi Maniac,

I looked at your post about how you manage the toner. Would you be able to share your script please.

Thank you in advance.

Monir

I will share my PHP/MYSQL creation if anyone wants it, but it was never written for distribution and was developed in situ on the system it's currently running on, so there's a lot of references that point directly to parts of our system, very sloppy programming, but it works for us and I've never been bothered to go through and tidy the code up. Therefore it would be an absolute nightmare to get working on any other configuration.

I would, however I don't have that particular code any more as we don't require it now and this was quite some time ago. It formed part of a larger asset management system that I wrote for a previous school, but where I am now I have purchased products to do the same as I never had the time to re-write it to work at another site.

@webman

First of all I want to thank you for your work. Very nice job. I have downloaded and installed v1.4 and also filled the database with about 100 printers. As I see on your demo page (Home - PrintMaster) the toner levels (low, ciritcal etc.) are not adjustable in the version 1.4 . Is it possible to get the last features updated? It was very nice. Thank you very much.

Hi Xtronic! I noticed a minor bug with that version during testing, and haven't got round to fixing it yet, sorry! I'll re-visit this soon and post an update when it's ready :)

@webman

Just found this thread. I've installed IIS, SQL & Server Management Studio, setup a new database, and and I'm up to:

3. Import the printmaster.sql file into the new database

How do I import the sql file? Do I just double click it? That opens it but not sure how to link it to the PrintMaster database I created in previous step.

I've skipped ahead and created my own config.php as instructed (think settings are correct having basic knowledge of SQL) but if I open web browser and browse to upgrade.php as instructed I get a load of PHP code with:

Uncaught fProgrammerException

-----------------------------

{doc_root}\PrintMaster\upgrade.php(30): include_once('C:\inetpub\wwwr...')

{doc_root}\PrintMaster\inc\core.php(87): fDatabase->__construct('mysql', '', '', '', '', '')

{doc_root}\PrintMaster\inc\flourish\fDatabase.php(308)

No database was specified

At the bottom.

Any ideas?
