Hello again.

PrintMaster is now at version 1.2.0, which now includes the discussed cost feature.

Please read the upgrade instructions, paying attention to the step that involves running /upgrade.php - this is important, and makes the necessary database changes. You will also need to add the currency value mentioned to the inc/config.php file.

@webman - Can the cost of the consumable be more than £99? I ask as we have some old printers that take cartridges costing more than £100. I dont intend to purchase anymore cartridges for these but we do have some stock on the shelf already. I tried putting in a cost of £104 but it came back as £99 on the consumables screen. Is it as easy to change as going into mysql Db and changing the "Length/Values" attribute for cost from 4,2 to 5,2?

@webman - I added the costs for the cartridges directly into the db via phpmyadmin. I have already installed some cartridges so I was hoping that the reports screen would now reflect the fact that I had added costs to the cartridges. The report shows nothing under costs for those cartridges I already installed before adding in the costs.

It can now, yes.

No purchase cost for printers this time around ? :confused2:

but still a fantastic upgrade.

Consider it done!

Download v1.3.0 (includes fix for consumable costs and added purchase date & cost to printers). Don't forget to read upgrade/changes files.

In response to the costs in the report section. The cost is stored with each log entry at the time, to account for variation in consumable costs over time. E.g. log an install when a consumable is £40, the log entry will be £40. If you then change the consumable cost to £50, previous log entries will remain at £40. This is just to ensure that they always remain accurate, regardless of any changes. If you need to update your logs for that expensive consumable, I would suggest just updating that manually yourself after upgrading to the latest version. The cost columns should now all be float(6,2).

This is brilliant @webman, thank you! Have set it up for all our printers and have done a stock check and now have it all sitting in this system.

The only change I would like to ask for, would it be possible to show the Department for the printer on the Report Page? And be able to sort by this as well? Also, it would be nice to be able to show the cost to each department as a total along with the Grand Total.

Mucho appreciated!

Hi Pete.

A departments feature has always been on the TODO list, but have never really gotten round to adding it. Might do that very soon as well to keep the momentum up :)

@webman - One of the techies has inadvertantly installed a consumable to the wrong printer. Our report now is incorrect. Is there an easy way to amend this mistake?

For now, I'm afraid you'll have to delve into the database using phpMyAdmin/HeidiSQL to alter or delete the log entry.

I thought I would have to. Any indicators as to which table the entry would be in?

It will be in the 'events' table. The date fields should be readable. You can find the ID of the printer in question by going to the Printers page, click the Edit link on the one that it was wrongly installed to, and look at the address bar at the last bit that says "id=X" where X will be the ID number.

I have just installed Printmaster, got it all setup but when I go to add a consumable I get the following cost error.

{doc_root}\PrintMaster\consumables.php(120): include('C:\inetpub\wwwr...')

{doc_root}\PrintMaster\views\consumables\addedit.p hp(35): Consumable->getCost()

{doc_root}\PrintMaster\views\consumables\addedit.p hp(35): fActiveRecord->__call('getCost', Array)

{doc_root}\PrintMaster\inc\flourish\fActiveRecord. php(906): fActiveRecord->get('cost')

{doc_root}\PrintMaster\inc\flourish\fActiveRecord. php(1821)

The column specified, cost, does not exist

Any help would be appreciated.

For new installs, you have to visit upgrade.php in your browser first. This should ensure the default database is up-to-date with all changes. When you've done that, it should work fine :)

Hey, awesome job so far on this project. I love it so far. I spent Hrs trying to find something like this. I did have to modify the sql db to allow longer model names. 20 char wasn't long enough. I bumped it to 128.

I just created my self a DB and added our current inventory of toner (113), and added models (21) for said toner. During this process I've come up with some things that I think would work out very well for this project.

When adding toner or model have the option to save and new. Great for when your adding a bunch of consumables right after each other.

Way to identify Remanfactured supplies vs OEM supplies vs specialty (MICR toners).

Check for duplicated consumables when adding new types.

Grand totals for carts in stock. (Way to do a number check. Database says 31. Shelf has 31 carts.)

Way to track who took a consumable and who replenished a consumable. (required name field?)

Seriously thanks for your time!

Hi dcorwin822. Thanks very much for trying out PrintMaster and providing some great feedback and suggestions. I'm really glad you've found it useful. I'll take note of your comments and hopefully incorporate some, if not all of those in future versions :)

EDIT: Disregard this, I am a donkey. Helps if you restart the IIS service properly after making permission changes...

Just installed this on IIS8, but get an error "The directory specified, C:\inetpub\wwwroot\printmaster\session\, is not writable" when I try to load the upgrade.php script.

The directory is writable - I even tried assigning 'Everyone' Full Control, but still got the error. Any ideas, or is it just not going to work on IIS?

It looks like you don't have the cost fields in the database. Have you ran /upgrade.php in your browser straight after installing?

@webman - Would it be possible in the next update of your brilliant application to add in a field which tracks whether the Toner has a chargeback? We order toners for the whole school and when we supply one we charge the dept concerned and money is transfered into our budget for the toner. At the moment we have to keep a seperate list of who has been charged and who hasnt. A simple tick box or yes/no field for chargeback would be fantastic.
