Snail Babies!!!

My rather large Apple Snails have just laid there first clutch of eggs...just wondering if any one on here has any experience with them...any advise would be great...

 

also...as I might get quite a few snail babies, (I have around 70 eggs!!!) if any schools in the Lancashire area have tanks or ponds and would like some when they are big enough just email me and let me know..... I will post pictures up if any one is interested!

Don't count your snails before they are hatched - I had Giant African Land Snails once that only produced two babies out of a whole wodge of eggs.

ohh I know ...I have to get them out of the tanks without killing them first!!...they need to go in a nursery!! Bless!!!

Our tropical tank is completely snail free since we acquired Clown Loaches a few years ago. They ate the lot... we haven't attempted to re-introduce and accidental imports on plants have been swiftly eaten too.

If these are the type that lay there eggs just above the waterline in a cluster then yes, have had these before. They can lay infertile eggs, but you should be able to tell by the colour. If they go a whitish colour they are probably not going to hatch, but if they stay a nice shade of orange you should be ok as long as they stay in a humid enviroment like your tank lid

Thanks Jon, yeah they are an orangey red and are next to the lamp in the tank lid!! I hope they don't frazzle!!!

 

Funny thing is one of them escaped out of the feeding lid the other day...I was looking everywhere for him....found him on the floor!! running away from his parental responsibilities!! Terrible ...I know have a heavy object on the lid!!!

Agreed on that! I've never seen such a managery of pets I am sure though our owners are all great with them

 

6 month old kittens are the best, they are usually fairly well toilet trained and know a bit of right and wrong but are still very playful I got our cat at about 6 months old and my mum was over joyed with it (we had lost our other cat at Easter and we'd had him about 10 years so we missed him and I got this for Christmas for her as a present). So little CLEO is now about 3 years old, still full of mischief, still claws at the wooden furniture and stair case, but is a little ball of fun at times Other than the cat we have Sheep and Fish.

John I think you need a couple of snail to keep your fish company!!! My cat loves watching them...she spends hours glued to the tank!

My fish would eat them, there's about 70 of them in the big pond in the Garden!
