sippo Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 A mate of mine cannot get into his hotmail account, and is in bit of a pickle about it. The online password resetter says his security password is wrong, but he adament it's not. Does anyone know the procedure to get the account reset so he can gain access?
tom_newton Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Seems unlikely... but it could happen that security passwords get reset I guess. Are you sure he's not being a real doylem and trying a .com address when his is a .co.uk or something similar?
jamesfed Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Try this- Windows Live Sign-in Help Center - Reset Password If that dosn't work- https://windowslivehelp.com/PasswordReset.aspx Try and give as much info as possible
sippo Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Thats what I thought but he mailed me all his details, and the account has been hacked.

If you use the second link you can send an email to Microsoft - if you give them enough information they can verify that you are who you say you are (even if you are doing this on behalf of a mate) and reset the password sending the details to your personal account. 1
Disaster Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 you better be ultra specific too. This happened to my mate and I dont know what end of the stick they got, but they must have assumed he meant the email address (his one which had been hacked) was the one doing the hacking, so they closed it! Took him about 2 weeks to get it back, by then he gibbed them off for gmail...
Mike_cole Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 that happened to me in the end i just went to gmail had no issues since then
difinity Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I had a teacher come in and see me yesterday, exactly the same thing had happened to him, it was saying his security password was wrong as well.
sippo Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Well I've created a second account for him and told him to fill in the form. Has anyone used it? What are the chances of success?
jamesfed Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Has anyone used it? What are the chances of success? I've used it quite a number of times - has worked everytime but as said already its all about including as much info as possible.
Mullaney18 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) I dont think its a case hes been hacked, its generally somebody you know who has guessed your secret answer to your secret question. My mate got into her ex boyfriends hotmail by guessing: Thus, getting her into his mail to reset his facebook, ebay and paypal accounts.. Post edited for profanity. No swearing please.
