Some staff have asked if they can have Spotify on the network I don't use it and I'm wondering if there will be issues e.g. copyright can anyone say?

 

If that's not an issue someone said that you can download the tracks and play them back throught the Spotify app even when not online. Is this right?

Anyway, you'd need each member of staff to have an account, and the offline caching is for premium (paid for) accounts, and you probably wouldn't want to take the bandwidth hit if it took off.

 

So basically - best to leave well enough alone.

Our LA rapped our knuckles over this so I would say no that does not include schools. We allow staff to have it installed on the school laptops but they are only allowed to use it at home.

Non comercial means you cannot make money from it play it as part of your business, ie instead of the radio in your restaurant or as a source of music at a night club.

 

Teachers listening by themselves is ok broadcasting to the children not so much.

If I recall correctly they have it filtered under 'peer to peer file sharing', which technically it does. I'm not sure (not tried) if you can actually get at/move/copy/use the streamed/P2P files outside of spotify though?

I think their main issue was the bandwidth usage
