Spicework Helpdesk Problem

Set up fine, this is my third school i am using this in and this is the first problem i'v seen.

 

Will load fine on a domain admin account, but any other user and it says "the url could not be retrieved". Initially i thought of shortcut permissions issue, but the url wont load when typed into the browser so god knows?!? any hints?

 

Running on Server 03, and loading on XP sp3 machines.

What user is the Service running as? I believe it needs to be a SYSTEM service, where you may have it set to the admin account.

Spiceworks does tie in with their own website, is this freely accessible through the other users' accounts or is it blocked internally/at LEA level?

Yep Running as a system services so cant be that.

 

We dont block anything here we leave it to the lea, if the lea had blocked it would it still work for the domain admins??

Probably not, but at least that is one less thing to concern yourself about

Have you set the address as an exception in the proxy settings?

Nope there are no exceptions in the proxy :S

Does that mean that you don't need them? I had to add the spiceworks server address to the list of addresses to bypass the proxy or I got the same error.

Added the exceptin into the GPO and now its working,
