google search doesn't work in chome

Got a strange one - if I use Chrome and goto google.co.uk and type something in the main google search box - it just returns to itself without producing any results.

 

If I type a search in the address bar - that works.

 

A teacher reported this yesterday and I just tried the address bar seach and said it works for me

 

I just decided to give Chrome a workout on my netbook and I can now see the problem.

 

Anyone else had this?

Try clearing the cashe and cookies on the computer. I have also seen this with Firefox.

you need to clear the cache and it will kick in again. I had this before a few times, and I am sure that google are aware that when the cache gets loaded up that the search doesnt work.

tried that - no diff

in case it means something to anyone?

It's the same for me it's not your browser.........

Does your LEA shape your searches? (i.e force safe search etc)

 

Perhaps there is an issue with what a shaped search is returning. The URL above is the initial code for a strict safe search without any conditions passed to it.

 

Do you have a squid proxy?

 

Edit - It also sounds a little bit like the behaviour of the tidserv root kit trojan
