Dos_Box Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Because the Mobotix isn't facing the stand, here is a picture of it in case you are wondering how it looks:
Dos_Box Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Note to our BETT staff. Notice how clean it is after 3 days!
mac_shinobi Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Who went to Denver for the edugeek bett show or whatever it is you are doing there ?
Dos_Box Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Who went to Denver for the edugeek bett show or whatever it is you are doing there ? Just Shaun and myself. It's a big outlay.
EduTech Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I think we kept the BETT stand quite clean @Chris - are we using this next year at BETT? @Mac_Shinobi - DosBox & ZeroHour went to Denver for this evening, along with the Smootwall Team BETT is what takes place in London yearly and there are quite a few more of us then

It will be in storage for ISTE 2011 in Philidelphia next year.
Dos_Box Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Are my eyes deceiving me or does ZeroHour have a mac book pro ? Yes he has. Ask him what he thinks about it
mac_shinobi Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 @ Zero Hour - what do you think to the mac book pro ?
ZeroHour Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 @ Zero Hour - what do you think to the mac book pro ? Well... it crashes/freezes a lot more then I expected. Hardware/build wise its very nice but OSX is not exactly as simple or as "it just works" as I thought. I have to say my impression of OSS for mac is rather lacking over windows. Most of the stuff I use on the mac is payware where as on windows I had much more freeware options but fusion is helping. The heat issue is pretty annoying but Fan Control seems to have helped. I have heard stories of warped unibody cases which wont eject CD's anymore which was very concerning for something of this expense. As for programming for the iPhone on it, damn I hate jobs and his objectivec junk...
mac_shinobi Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I never had any problems with the build wise or OS X not being able to do what I want - what sort of things are you trying to do or things that you do on windows for free that you cant on os x ? Heat wise I only ever had that issue from my power book G4 and that was only due to 1 - it being very old and over used by myself ( as was a brand new power book when I first purchased it out of the apple store in London ) 2. When I had it sitting on my blanket in bed without any stand or anything underneath it which most likely didnt help point 1 when it got old
Dos_Box Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 We suspect that as Shauns MacBook Pro has the i5 chip, Apple has not yet tweaked their code for it.
Soulfish Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Note to our BETT staff. Notice how clean it is after 3 days! Pfft - the stand was lovely after 3 days!
rad Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 The stand was fine when I visited on Friday morning at BETT, I reckon someone had just run the hoover through it!
GrumbleDook Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 The tidiest year at BETT was the first year ... those off-cuts of carpet could hide anything!
john Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I think the stand at BETT was very tidy really, it was all the freebies we had they came in too much packaging. Next year we need a broom cupboard like Smoothwall have, or one of those zip up wardrobes as well as the generic black locking cupboard we have to put all our coats, hats, scarves, snow boots, skis, kayaks etc in rather than a few in the cupboard and then the rest in a heap. (Yes I'm going to be prepared for anything this time seen as we've had snow and torrential rain now! There was still lots of snow when I got home on the Sunday!) Oh and we don't want a snail coffee table thingy!
john Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Yes he has. Ask him what he thinks about it Its *insert expletive of choice here* sums it up nicely Must admit I do agree with a great number of Shauns issues with his MBP that I have with my MB.
