Permissions issue - photos not displaying

I have a permissions issue that I'd hugely appreciate help on!

 

I have a teacher with 2 logons on one she has stored photos which she wants to access in the other logon. I have set up a shortcut to the original folder and given her other uusername permissions on it put the shortcut on her existing desktop - trying to then access the subfolder on her logon said the subfolders were empty and that she did not have permission. I then took admin ownership of the subfolders and gave her permissions. She had access to the folders and can see all the jpgs but same permission issue happens on trying to open the individual files. the only way I can see around it is taking Admin ownership of each file and giving her permission that way - obviously unworkable. What's the proper way to do this?

Sounds like you were on the right track. When you edit the permissions, click the advanced button and look for a check box next to the text "Replace permission entries on all child objects ..." towards the bottom of the Permissions tab. This should fix your problem of changing the permissions on all of the files.

One as her class (which supply teacher can use when they are covering for her) the other her own account!

There is most likely a deny overriding the allow. Also if by desktop you mean like a roaming profile, they hate when you fiddle with the permissions on them.

 

Try testing with the effective permissions tab.
