Thats really confusing! I have been following the thread, and i use roaming and don't have this problem, I have offline files disabled on everything possible and documents are set to an auto-redirect to the Home Drive, now ocassionally if its blips on logon it copies them back to the profile and remembers that change but its very rare. Have you tried logging on as an affected account and right clicking my documents and see where that is pointing to, it should be the letter of your Mapped Drive for the documents, if its C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\etc then somethings not applying somewhere along the way.

Profile Path - \\dibbler\users\yearx\username

 

Home Folder connect h: \\dibbler\users\yearx\username

 

Also witrhin Group Policy i have added the Office 2003 Group Policy object and set that to h:\ could that be affecting it.

Faza, if you have GPMC installed can you run a GP Result on one of the workstations as a pupil and post the report so I can take a look at it - it's possible some of your GPO's aren't running as they should..

Are refreshing your group policy properly before deciding the options don't work? Go to start, run, type GPUPDATE then restart the computer.

I don't quite understand what you mean here.

Is your my documents definately redirected to a different location to your profile. So, for example:

My profiles are set (on the object in AD Users and Computers) as

\\server\pupilprofiles\username

My documents is redirected (in group policy) to

\\server\pupildocs\username

(and it puts it in a my documents sub folder).

 

You can also disable offline files directly on the share. You should do this for the profile directory regardless of whether you want to use offline files or not otherwise windows can get confused (as it copies them anyway using a different method).

Yup that will be the problem by what you have put there your telling it to put your documents back in the profile as its the exact same path. You need to do what eean has said, a complete seperate location from the profile

So do i need just one profile and all the users that one profile or do i need to create 1200 new folders for each individual user.

Up to you, you could create a mandatory profile (info in the wiki on this) and leave the existing folders there and your redirect should point it to the documents still. Ideally IMHO, I would pull the documents out of all the profiles, put them in a seperate share in a nice file structure and create a new mandatory profile for all the students and use roaming for the staff and that should cure your problem
