exchange server 2007 msi problem

after a bad day yesterday decided to add the host transport role to client access server just to get email working again

 

but get this

 

any ideas

Are all the source files in the path C:\E2K7EN64\exchangeserver.msi ? You say its already a Client Access box, maybe use Add/Remove programs and then tick the box?

thats were source files are yes and i am using the add remove programs

 

i tick the box click next and get the error

Strange, is it a difference in Service Pack from your source files maybe?

Good to hear that was it and you've got it solved

After a failed installation of a server role, bits of the failed installation are left behind. So the Add Remove Programmes console has to be used to remove the failed role before you can attempt another install. (Even though it looks like it hasn't installed) Hope that makes sense - I've been there myself.
