Hi,

Does anyone have a policy for student and staff printing they wouldn't mind sharing? Just looking for inspiration so we can get ours sorted. Just started using PaperCut to manage and monitor print credits and usage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :ear:

We use the RM print credit system, plus the papercut NG free to keep for an audit. Downside is that the RM system is not Mac compatible

Do you have any policy wording per chance?

We don't as the girls are always charged for either the print credits and the departments for the toners which are not on the credit system. We have currently moved to a print managed system and as its like big brother, the girl and teachers don't need a policy to know if they take the proverbial they will be caught out. We're lucky in the sense of this being an all girls well behaved grammar school they are all angels-bless!

Our policy is along the lines of " You may not use school photocopiers or printers for personal printing. Print restrictions are as applied by the person responsible for the school network in consultation with the HT and are set using print management software. Restrictions may be lifted or adjusted only on approval of the HT"

We prevent:

Duplicate printing (1 copy pupils, 5 copies staff - no repetition of job within 1 minute)

By name, i.e. any document name containing the text :

= "document" (unsaved word document),

= "publication" (unsaved powerpoint),

= "Full page" "20x 25" "13x 18", "10 x15"(larger photo sizes in windows printing wizard),

= http (the internet!)

There are probably others, but I can't remember them... those are the main ones!

Admin staff don't come under these rules.

if any help, our print policies and protocols are here... PRINT Policies and Protocols

maybe not quite what you mean since its more staff based than student but hopefully some help.

do you specify double sided mono as a default for everyone for example? (pushing the green aspect, recycled paper even).

presumably you want to put in some anti abuse angle if you restrict printing /potentially charge or otherwise.

Double sided wherever there's a printer with a duplex unit attached...

Yeah mainly looking for wording for the anti-abuse side of things, and also to specify charges and what happens when they run out of money.

Also how do people go about charging departments/staff?
