At the suggestion of my resident teenage Facebook experts, I have added a section at the end to cover "Facebook Adverts" and "Application Settings"

 

I cannot change the version in the original thread now - so I'm starting a new one.

 

This document from Kent Safeguarding Children Board is excellent: KSCB - Safer Practice with Technology - Guidance for adults who work with children and young people and is perhaps something else schools might want to use.

The other thing I'd recommend is that people watch a short (8 minute) video called Jigsaw from CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre - the ones behind that Report Button that facebook won't have). It's actually aimed at Key Stage 2 children... but I haven't met an adult yet that hasn't been affected by it:
