*UPDATE*

Well, we're just into the second half, and I can report that there has been very little to trouble TVCatchup.

However, either Alan Shearer is losing his hair much faster than first anticipated, or the pixelation was getting worse!!!

BBC will be fine

What would make you think that?

Why would the BBC spend the enourmous amount of money required for servers/bandwidth to cope with a seventh wave event?

And if they have - wouldn't you want someones head on a plate for wasting so much of your money when they've already spent millions on an alternative called televisual broadcasting using COFDM over radio waves :)

e.g DTT :)

I'd want someone's head on a plate, if they were NOT investing in the NEW broadcast media, whatever the event.

Don't worry, for all you football-haters......Wimbledon is on next week.....and I bet the Net will be equally well served for that too! (Do you see what I did there? Well-served? Wimbledon? :getmecoat: )

T'internet (current version) wasn't desigined for broadcasting - Sat and DTV were :)

Simon

That's correct....but it has been adapted to become the NEW broadcast media.

And, BBC, ITV et al have to be on top of the game, otherwise they will fall behind and lose out in the battle for online viewers. I think that ITV will have lost this battle already, but the BBC are keeping themselves very much in the game with the amounts that have been invested.

Does it start at 3.00? If so we finish at 3.20 so my advice to everyone in my school will be - hurry home!

Just in case though - we have an aerial connection in the hall, so ....... can I connect a freeview box to a projector or even have an additional image coming off the TV?

trying to watch Germany v Serbia atm, (I am doing a test before wednesday) and it is not reliable. It keeps stalling, and that is not my computer, it occured also in another room. I'd not trust iplayer for next week

I have about 5 or 6 classes watching it on iPlayer and its dropping out a lot. Sadly even TVCatchup is suffering but that's probably down to our 10Mb connection being shared over 2 school and being saturated!
