Mysite

Hi,

 

I have a SharePoint site which is hosted by our local authoirty. Within school when i logon i get the Mysite option but when i login at home to the SharePoint site the Mysite option is not there. I have tried the permissions but i am confused.

Tried clearing your cache? That worked for some issues I had with our hosted sharepoint install at the LEA.

Yep i have tried clearing my cache (its not within sharePoint is it?) just the normal method of clearing the cache?

Hmmm yeah, just in IE.

 

I know there is an issue with Sharepoint dumping it's cache overnight but I have not dealt with that before, LEA are sorting that for us as it is their Sharepoint server!

Do you automatically (SSO) login at school, or enter your details manually. I would be on the phone to the LEA first and foremost to see if they no of a reason why this could be?

We have the physical server, the LEA just host it for us externally.

It doesn't sound like permissions with the site, because you are using the same user to login at both locations - so the permissions should be the same wherever you go. I know SharePoint is a bit picky with FireFox so that would have been my first guess. Other than that, I would start looking at the server setup, port openings etc etc.

If so is your public facing web application associated with a different one to your internal one?

No the Local Authority have assigned the server IP address to a different URL. Internally i am using the servername/sites....... externally i am using sharepoint.............co.uk

Is it that you can't see the MySite link externally at all or is it that when you click on the MySite link it generates an error?

 

If the latter then I would expect this to be a problem in your Alternatve Access Mapping Settings (would need to go into Central Admin>Operations to check)
