Hi,

Working with a school who wants to translate their sharepoint text into many languages to suit the diverse needs of the parents / students. Google translate will do it but unsure on how to bring it into sharepoint. Has anyone done this before or am i breaching new ground here?

Sure Google Translate will do it, but you'll end up with the equivalent of 'Engrish' in the different languages...

I don't think there is an automated way from within Sharepoint to do this. A quick and easy cop-out would be advising visitors to use Google Chrome, and use the translate toolbar built in?

Thanks for that it does work but it might need a quality check doing first before rolling it out. Best get some language experts to have a look at it before we start to use it on mass.

Thanks, Ben

There is an out of the box solution from alphamosaik which offers a multilingual module for MOSS 2007. It has automated language detection based on browser settings feature which means the user doesnt have to translate the page. it will also translate web parts and list. More details can be found here

AlphaMosaik
