I have received 5 of the XJ-A140 units this morning, and trying to be efficient (after having a play first) went to the site to register for the extended 5-year education warranty.

Has anybody else done this? A 5-page questionnaire for EACH item!?

Really, these are surely a huge seller in education, there must be a better way for Casio to allow us to register the serial numbers for the 5-year warranty without all this consumer/marketing/info-gathering nonsense.

I've had another 6 of them turn up this morning (we already had 2!), and when we received the first unit several months ago the warranty registration hadn't been setup so we couldn't register. I phoned and asked and was told that we'd still be covered - I'm going to be calling my contact at Casio later to see if there's an easier way to register the units.

I contacted Casio, who told me to contact a UK distributor, who told me to contact my reseller, who is VERY kindly going through the forms for me.

I can imagine if we ordered 20 units, it would take me a day to fill in the stupid forms.

I'm sure that being a School if it came to year 4 and there was a problem they would honour the warranty, but I'm just trying to make sure.

I will pass these comments on to the main guys at Casio as quite rightly it is ridiculous to ask for this to register a warranty.

Will post their response.

When I needed to register 12 new Taxan projectors here I emailed customer services and they asked me to email them our details and a list of serial numbers.

Hopefully Casio will be just as obliging...

An alternative, possibly, would be to use an auto form filler, there are plenty of Firefox plugins for it. ;)

I have spoken to the UK BUsiness Manager for Casio and his response is as follows:

"The projectors are tracked by serial number so the customers do not need to fill in any forms to validate the warranty."

Hi,

The Casio projectors already have the warranty applied to them before they arrive with you. Additional information helps Casio speed up the process if there are any issues with the product requiring repair moving forward but is not essential for the warranty to be valid.

Hope that helps

Phil
