projector1 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 We have three laptops that do not have the cable screw mounts thus we get a lot of issues where the cable gets dislodged and therefore image loss on the IWB's! I hear that the new laptops are now being shipped out without this feature. Considering the fabrication of the vga cables, without them this will become a rather annoyance. If you have had new laptops, is this the case? what make models are they if they are screwless.
soveryapt Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 It's probably easier if people list the ones with as I know that most of the ones I've got at my school don't have the screw fittings. I was surprised to see that Apple have reintroduced screw fittings on their VGA Convertors for the MacBook Pro range when I bought mine recently. I certainly don't see why manufacturers have started leaving them out though as you're right, it is annoying when they keep falling out!
Little-Miss Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I thought it was a ridiculous thing to get rid of.... My new Toshiba's dont have them. I hate those plugs anyway...i've always liked how the old parallel cables worked...
sted Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 id guess they have been removed so people dont just pick up the laptop and yank the socket off the board by forgetting to unscrew it. But most ive seen recently are screwless i expect its to try and get people to go hdmi which locks to a degree without the same risk of damage and i imagine will become the sole av standard in the not too distant future
john Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I must be the only person here who prefers them screw-less, it will be the end of VGA face plates ripped from the wall and dado trunking in classrooms I find they are usually quite tight fitting VGA connectors on them as well so they, if pushed in right, don't just drop off.
speckytecky Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 My most common IWP problem at present as well. Teachers think I'm some sort of magician when I restore the IWB screen:rolleyes:
