Hi,

We are looking for some compliant disposal of our (very) old kit (we have just had a new school built and need to get rid of some ancient computers). I noticed Virtue's 'box' system but their location is a bit of a negative (we are in northants). Anyone know of companies locally who provide this service- and dare I say it- at least 'nearly free'?

Thanks!

Paul

Hi Paul,

I've just arranged for these guys to come.....

Stone Group IT Recycling

I had around 70+ PC's, 70+ monitors as well as switches, and printers.

They took almost everything, for free. They provided an excellent service from start to finish.

I would recommend them to anyone!

I've used Techlogic (Welcome to Techlogic UK , Book your removal, disposal and recycling today! We offer corporate used, redundant or non-working computer, electronics and IT equipment clearance and disposal !!!!) for the last three collections I've had to book. First time I used them I was desperate to get rid of stuff ASAP after another company cancelled on us at the last minute (penultimate day of the holidays with the hall being full of old gear = not good). Phoned them up and they offered to come pick it up same day after talking to them. Always turned up when they say they will nice and early in the day and give us all the paperwork :)

We've given all that stuff to DNA IT Recycling for free, very good company to deal with; definitely recommend them.

This is a quick update from my first post......

They came in twice to us, as the first visit couldn't get it all in the van!

Still free, I found their guys to be very professional and very good!!

Anyway, this is the email (or part of) that I received this morning!

"Your collection is currently being processed at our dedicated facility, and our first priority in this process is the secure erasure of all existing data. This guarantees no embarrassing data leaks or repercussions under the Data Protection Act, and to ensure the process is as secure as it can possibly be we exclusively use Blancco, the world’s most accredited data erasure software.

Any equipment unsuitable for recovery is recycled in house and all constituent elements returned to the remanufacturing industries. This ensures we continue to meet our objective of 0% landfill and maximum environmental benefit from being the only UK IT hardware manufacturer to be currently operating its own recycling department.

I will ensure that all relevant paperwork is forwarded to you upon completion. I hope that you found our service valuable and I welcome any feedback you have as to how we can improve what we do.

You are more than welcome to pass on my details to any colleagues at other establishments who may find our service of value."
