Orange and T-Mobile merge....

So it's been annouced that Orange and t-Mobile are to come under an umbrella of Everything Everywhere....

 

But out of interest what happens to contracts?

 

I reallllllly want a HTC Desire to replace my aging G1, even considered selling it and buying one.... but does this merger mean I can negotiate a new contract? in order to get the phone early...

 

I know in usual contracts you can usually get one at around 3 months before it's due up...

 

P.S I'm around 11 - 12 months in to a 18 month contract.

I'd think there would be no change to the contracts - as Orange and T-Mobile themselves aren't changing. Instead, a new parent company is being formed, and the 2 existing companies being made subsidiaries of that.

So it's play by normal rules then.... What do you think my chances are if I say I will pay 3 months for early termination, for the upgrade.... (just less than six months left, having just worked it out)

In theory yes, that is how it is going to work, however both are currently piggy backing from vodaphone at the minute due to "extensive upgrades on the masts" according to one of their tech support people!

Its possible - but that may take them a while to organise that. I am guessing they'll also be taking some masts away where there is overlap.

From previous experience you'll be more than likely asked to pay for all of the time outstanding,

 

Either that or they will work out what the lowest talk plan you can be dropped down to is (if that's permitted in your contract and charge you for 6 months worth of that)

 

Either way i cant see it being cheap.

From something I've read, they are going to allow (for no extra cost) users to roam onto the other network

Surely the most important question is: What will happen with Orange Wednesdays?

From what an Orange customer suppoprt person told me, Orange has been upgrading and merger services for the past 6 months getting ready for the public announcement, Orange has a slightly below average reception where i live and work, but have been assured that once the parent company takes control all networks mast will be combined to make a super network. We have already had all our main Node Masts upgraded here and have been waiting for them to go live. Fingers crossed ill get a better signal in my office!

Surely the most important question is: What will happen with Orange Wednesdays?

 

As both companies are being made subsidiarys of a bigger one, hopefully there shouldn't be too much change. They'll probably stay relatively the same... a bit like GAME and Gamestation.
