timbo343 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Does anyone know where i can get 0.3m Cat6 patch cables from which will be less than £0.69 per cable as i can get 0.5m at this price and they need to be booted. Thanks Tim
MatthewL Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Give Safecontrol a ring, details here, we use them for all our cabling and have just started ordering 0.3m cables from them, not sure on prices as I don't really deal with that side of things but always been good for us, also the we have a good working relationship with the MD.
ticker Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 (edited) Give FruityCables a ring, details here i used them from a recommendation another edugeek memeber made when i needed 200 0.3m Cat6 patch cables which came booted, cant remember the price as it was last summer but i had to have them custom made rather than of the self. So i think you'll be lucky to get them for the same price as 0.5m Edited May 12, 2010 by ticker spelling mistake
timbo343 Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Cheers ticker. Have emailed them so will see what they come back with
john Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 You wont go wrong with Fruity I was impressed when I use them and I found them at BETT two years ago now and haven't looked back. I get all my Fibre stuff from them and its great quality and at amazing prices which is great as I do all my own fibre work so it saves a fortune.
timbo343 Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 I got a couple of quotes back from the companies you guys recommended. One of them couldnt get the cables at 0.3m but could do the 0.5m cables at more than i could get them for and another could do the 0.3m cables at £3. odd, and i am not prepared to spend that on a patch cable when i can get 0.5m cable for £0.69. Thanks anyway
localzuk Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Try Hills Components - http://www.hillscomponents.com/section.asp?sec=02&SS=08&SSS=B Their 08-09 catalog had 0.3m booted leads at 55p each, 0.5m at 60p. They may have changed prices slightly since then. Give em a call.
localzuk Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 make them ya self. If his requirements for 0.3m cables were anything like mine (I needed about 300 of them), I'd hate to wish that on anyone!
timbo343 Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Make them my self.... ummmm nah, i would rather use the 0.5m first before making them my self. As for using hills, we already use them, infact we use them a lot, but i am after cat 6 not cat 5 and Marie who works there couldnt get close enough to the price i can originally get them at. Nevermind.. ill stick with 0.5m from Mills.
witch Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I've spent all morning making cables - well, redoing the broken ends - just to stay out of the way of any rooms with SATs in them (I have an unerring knack of wandering into rooms where exams are being held). IMHO - definitely don't do it -buy em. We have used Hills ourselves and found them cheap and quick
john Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Nevermind.. ill stick with 0.5m from Mills. Remember to make Mills a must (can you tell I use them lots and my tool kit is built from lots of Mills tools)
timbo343 Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Remember to make Mills a must (can you tell I use them lots and my tool kit is built from lots of Mills tools) haha, yeah. Sounds sad but when you flick through their cat and look at the tool sets and think, wish i had one of those. Its a bit like the argos cat, but its not laminated and doesnt have the mini pens but houses so many precious things
