Gerry Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I've heard of Toucan, but are there any others to consider? A user would specifically like to periodically make backups of his USB stick. Thanks.
featured_spectre Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Microsoft sync is a good one, built into XP and beyond, and MS Groove (as a part of the office 2003 onwards packages) is also quite good 1
LeMarchand Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I do mine by using the one built into shell tool FileMenuTools, but that may be overkill for your user, who may not need any of the other functions. I've also tried Allway Synch, and here's a few more suggestions. 1
sparkeh Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I have to say I love MS SyncToy Yep this is a cracking little app and I highly recommend it. SyncToy
sted Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 3rd vote for synctoy simple and can easily be deployed via gpo and as a bonus has a native x64 version
ZeroHour Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Does your Synctoy work ok with Smart Notebook files? We found it was corrupting permissions on the files. Are you using 2.1? there was an issue with 2.0 and network shares but 2.1 fixed that. Not sure if the problem was permissions related though.

Issues with 2.0 were to do with syncing with NAS storage, FAT partitions, sharepoint and an issue with the Echo option.
