stevenwba Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Hi, im trying to use clonezilla to image a laptop, ive got so far and now im trying to save the image on an external hard drive, and selected local disk to remote disk, and got a few steps further but now im stuck at configure network device, which im just confused why this even needs to be done just to take a image on the whole drive???? Also it lists both wlan and lan NIC's, trying selecting either of them, and both fail to get me any further, so i could do with a few points, thanks for your help as always Regards
computer_expert Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 you need to select device to image (laptop HDD to image file), then follow the wizard which should prompt you to specify the image name/where it gets saved to. 1
stevenwba Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 yeah, ive managed to get a little further now, it didnt like selecting dhcp for the nic, so just gave it a static ip and now i can choose where to save the image.
LeMarchand Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I've only used Clonezilla a few times, but IIRC the "remote disk" option is for network disks. If you're imaging to an external drive (e.g. a USB device) you need to choose a different option. No spare machines/space to check atm, but if no-one has given better info I'll check the machine that's currently disk checking and get the exact options.
LeMarchand Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 DOH! Not only too slow, but also the wrong end of the stick!
