Guest theeldergeek Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 BBC News - Microsoft debuts 'fix it' program
Guest theeldergeek Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 BBC News - Microsoft debuts 'fix it' program ... installed, played with, and immediately uninstalled. Can't see it having much (if any) usefulness here. Aimed at the stand alone home user I would imagine. Someone might find it useful.
ZeroHour Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Its pretty good tbh, it found a few problems with my IE when I ran tests on it (crappy HP toolbar) and things are running faster in IE now.
LosOjos Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Begs the obvious question: if they know what the problems with their software are and have a tool to fix them, why don't they just 'perma-fix' the software with an update rather than adding in extra steps to do so?
K.C.Leblanc Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I've just installed it on my Vista machine and told it to remove all faults. It rebooted and said OS Not Found, I think it works quite well. 2

aerospacemango Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I installed at home............. Turned out to be a pretty pointless exercise, as it didn't tell me anything I didn't know already!
FN-GM Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Does anyone have the link for this i can't seem to find it. Thanks
p858snake Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 For those getting non admin messages, it;'s probably checking to see if the account is in the local admin groups, while you're probably using domain admin which inherits it's rights or soemthing.
EduTech Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 @ FN - You can download it from here: Microsoft Fix it Solution Center James.
torledo Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I installed at home............. Turned out to be a pretty pointless exercise, as it didn't tell me anything I didn't know already! no harm done then !
