NX6325 Ghosting slow

I have got some HP NX6325 they have broadcom NetLink Gigabit Nic in and well it ghosts really really slowly (2-5MB/Min)... other terminals don't ghost slow...

 

i have updated the bc57.dos driver to the latest of broadcoms webby.. has anyone experianced that with this NIC???

Absolutely I've given up trying to ghost them. For now I'm just letting the setup complete on them and then adding them to the domain.

Oh joy! I've got four of these being shipped out to us in the next week or so and was definately planning on using Ghost to build one up and image the rest. Doesn't sound good at a rate of 2-5MB/Min - rather painful if you ask me.

Strange, we have DX5150s with the same NIC, they work OK. As do the Dell D610s we have.

They are nice laptops though!!... just be glad you only have four... if they are SATA hdds.. (which i think they might be not checked.... ) you could allways pull them out and they will plug into a regular pcs sata port. and ghost them like that.. i'm glad i only have 6... i'll leave them ghosting over night i think...

 

I have some NX6310s and they ghost just fine..they have broadcom 440x Nics in...

there's a link to a previous post here and also if you're ghosting sata drives you need to add the switch -NOIDE (I think that's what it is - I'll check for you)

I've imaged lots of machines with SATA drives without using that switch but on my nx6325's I gave up trying to ghost them as it was soo slow.

 

We bought 17 of them.

the -noide seems to work with Ghost 8.0 its going at about 280MB/Min now

Lets hope that works, we have got 30 to do! I had 15 Toshibas at the beginning of term and ghost kept freezing on them. Not much fun setting them up individually.

Just to confirm from me as well that with the -noide switch ghosting is indeed very good on these.

 

Previously had very low speeds just had 381mb/min

I am still struggling. Tried -noide in the command line bit on the ghost cast server but no joy. What am i doing different to you all?

The -noide switch is for the ghost.exe client not the ghostcast server.

I don't know what your setup it but what I do to ghost a machine is boot them from a universal tcp/ip bootdisk this then connects to a shared folder on the network that has ghost and my menu program in it.

 

The menu then gives me options i.e ghost, aefdisk.

 

All the menu does it call ghost.exe with ghost.exe -ide

 

I set the ghostcast session manually.

I knew I should have been more specific to start with, sorry.

 

From the beginning:

I create "network boot disk" using symantic boot disk wizard. This creates two disks (one with the NIC drivers and one with ghost).

I use these to boot the laptop into GHOST.

Meanwhile on the ghostcast server I have clicked "accept clients"

In GHOST I go to "GHOST CAST" > MULTICAST > enter the session name > select no compression > then click ok.

Things start off great (for about 5 seconds) then the transfer speed drop to 5mb/min.

 

Where it that whole process do i enter the -noide switch?

 

any help please

The one with ghost on whatever starts ghost or you run ghost.exe from the commandline just run ghost.exe -noide

I think I was confusing things by adding:

-clone,mode=create,src=1,dst=@mca

 

which i got from the ghostcast server.

could you not have gone into the bios and enabled ide compatibility for sata drives i did this on some fujitsu's i recently received!

Hi all,

 

My batch of 5 arrived today. Does anyone have any pointers as to which drivers they used? I've been getting an 19913 error from Ghost about a DHCP server when I go and use the Multicast option. The weird thing is that I'm not even using DHCP - I use static IPs for Ghosting.

 

Any help/ideas would be much apprciated - after about two and a half hours this afternoon, I've still not come up with any solution.

Thanks for your reply - I did indeed try the drivers from the Broadcom site and the HP site, but to no avail. Are there any others people have used successfully? Are there any considerations I need to take into account when creating the boot disks using the Ghost Boot Disk Wiazrd?
