Exchange 2010 how many servers

for those of you already running Exchange 2010 , how many servers you running exchange on

we have about 700 mailboxes in Exchage 2007 at present.

with

2 cas servers

2 ht servers

2 mailbox servers

 

also looking to virtualise exchange 2010 , has anyone had problems doing this ???

I'm running 470 mailboxes and all the roles on one box, seems to be fine so far but its VERY early days, as in its only just been installed!! So time will tell, but the box is very over-speced its a Dual Quad Core Xeon with 24gb ram so I do accept its OTT in spec really (its been bought for a VM host box for future re-deployment but its filling an inter-rim role of Exchange for us)

Our exchange (2007 at the moment, 2010 in the future) box has similar spec, and is solely for exchange. Only have about 300 mailboxes. Interestingly, the way exchange works it makes use of all available memory, so Ive had to re-calibrate nagios to not warn at 20%.

We're using 1 exchange server with 2 quad core 3ghz and 4 GB of ram with about 2500 mailboxes, never a bit of slowdown, should be keeping it for sometime.

I run Exchange 2010 on one Hyper-V VM and currently have 16GB RAM dedicated for it as well as a physical gigabit card. Both/either may be slighly over-kill for supporting the 1000mailboxes it holds, but I have the capacity so may as well let it have it while it is spare.

When I get some spare time I plan to install another VM instance of Exchange on a seperate Hyper-V server to look at some of the DAG features and have another copy of databases etc.
