witch Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Went to a Dorset ICTiS conference yesterday and the woman from BECTA mentioned how good texting parents was in terms of increasing parental engagement- she then said something like: "you should all take advantage of your free texting" Now it might be Dorset LA IT but we got the impression she was talking about SWGfL Can't find anything anwhere- does anyone know about it?
K.C.Leblanc Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 We've not heard anything here. Although it wouldn't the first time they did something and then didn't tell anyone about it.

Yup...seems the 'Basic' service is indeed FREE to setup and 'Rent', but you must purchase message bundles (which must be used in 12 mnths), which work out at a flat rate of 4.2p per messege sent... Hope this helps....ciao 4 now :0) 1
witch Posted March 31, 2010 Author Posted March 31, 2010 Me Too. Wish I'd known, we could have met up. What did you think of it? I thought it was very poor compared with last year and it really shows Dorset's involvement with RM

Guest oll Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Yep...... SWGfL provide a no subscription texting service for schools - one way texting (anouncements) and 2 way is £10.00 per month. Texts are 4p each - there is no expiry time. see gotoourplace.com/secondary (service is available to any school.) see the Ja.net Text panel and links. To set up an account just complete the form and e-mail / text..
